Cjenogram

A public mobile app that lets shoppers scan a barcode and compare shelf prices across 16 grocery, drugstore and fuel chains.

The Chamber of Economy of Zenica-Doboj Canton wanted to bring price transparency to consumers. We designed, built and launched Cjenogram — iOS and Android apps, a moderation CMS and a public website — and look after it as the chamber’s developer and technical maintainer.

The challenge

Prices in Bosnia and Herzegovina change often, and shoppers have little visibility of what the same product costs in different stores. The chamber wanted a public service that makes prices transparent and helps people make informed choices.

It had to be trustworthy — no scraped or invented data — easy enough to use in a store aisle, and operable by a small chamber team without developers on staff.

What we built

  • iOS and Android apps: barcode scanning with GS1 product lookup, search by name and category, price comparison by chain and by store, filters by store and city, and recent prices nearby.
  • Crowd-sourced prices backed by a photo of the shelf tag, community up/down voting, and proposals for missing products, stores and branches.
  • Shopping lists, preferred stores and submission history for shoppers.
  • Moderation CMS for the chamber: review inbox, catalog, prices, stores and branches, reports and user bans — with instant staff alerts — plus store administrators limited to their own stores.
  • App Store compliance: in-app account deletion, content reporting and blocking, and legal pages naming the chamber as operator.
  • Public website, App Store launch, Google Play release (in testing) and over-the-air app updates.

Outcomes

01

A public service, live in the App Store

Available on iPhone in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the Android app in Google Play testing.

02

Trustworthy data by design

Every price comes with a photo of the shelf tag and passes moderation — nothing is scraped or guessed.

03

Run by the chamber, not by developers

The CMS lets the chamber’s team moderate, manage stores and act on reports without technical help.

04

Retailers can take part

Store administrators manage their own locations within clear permissions.

05

Built to grow

One backend for the apps, CMS and website, over-the-air updates and 564 automated backend tests.

06

A long-term technical partner

MagnetDev remains the developer and technical maintainer; the chamber is the operator.

One system, not a pile of tools.
